What the Blog?

I've just created this blog, and haven't informed anyone. I suppose this first blog is kind of Zen. Or maybe not. I hope eventually someone will read and enjoy it.

Alas, I spoke too soon. My wife just walked over, and I told her what I was doing. She was suitably unimpressed. She noticed that I had improved the nose on my "avatar", which I had created on the web at aniboom.com. It's in my view, a cool site which is dedicated to animation. It has an online program called shapeshifter which I have been using to teach myself animation.

Currently I produce and host a TV show called Local Bias. I intend to upload episodes in the near future. The show is primarily designed to provide a forum for some of the fascinating people who live in Western Massachusetts. Because we're located in Greenfield, most of our guests are from Franklin County.

I named the show "Local Bias" for several reasons. I'm not interested in being "politically correct". I have an opinion, and am willing to share it. I prefer though, to let my guests discuss their passions, interests, and viewpoints, while I keep the conversation moving with provocative questions. I don't mind if a guest has a diametrically different bias from my own. I may respectfully disagree, or challenge them to justify their view. I may even change my own mind. I certainly don't have all the answers.

When spoken, "Local Bias" can sound like "local buy us", or "local by us". I'm in favor of both.

I also feel our lives are enriched when we interact in a community. It is very easy these days to communicate with someone halfway across the world, but do we even know our own neighbors?
I hope viewers of "Local Bias" get to know their neighbors a little better.

More later?

Drew

  1. Hey Drew...Richard here! I've enjoyed listening to local folks speak thier mind about local and world wide topics. Being part of the show it's been interesting to meet and interact with some old and new local friends. Looking forward to taking the show to a new level.
